Carlo Paalam won the gold medal at the recent ASBC Asian Elite Championship in Amman, Jordan last November 12, 2022.
In the men’s 54-kilogram bantamweight finals, the 24-year-old Paalam defeated Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan 4-1 on a split decision. This is the first time Paalam moved up in the heavier Bantamweight class and snatched the Asian boxing title.
“It will always be my honor to compete for my city and my country, the Philippines in any boxing matches.”, said Paalam, who took home silver from the 2022 Tokyo Olympics. “I take inspiration from my wife, and family and have used my heart and mind whenever inside the ring.”, he added.
Boy Zugba, CDO’s homegrown Kusina Bisaya, also held a meet and greet at their Gaisano City CDO branch together with his supporters and family, last Friday 25 November.
Carlo will be back in training this December in Baguio in preparation for future qualifying games abroad for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
