Youth Hours CDO

The Outstanding Students of the Philippines – Region X Alumni Community, in cooperation with RFM Foundation, Inc. and the Commission on Higher Education- Regional Office X (CHED- RO X) will hold the YOUTH HOURS (YH) 2015.

YOUTH HOURS is an annual youth forum for Filipino student leaders from different Higher Education Institutions, providing a venue for them to exchange ideas and discuss issues affecting the youth. It aims to empower the nation’s youth by enhancing their capacity through a clearer awareness of self, a deeper appreciation of one’s calling and commitment to serving others, and stronger ties with fellow student leaders.

It will be held on February 14, 2015 from 8:00AM-5:00PM at Performing Arts Theater, Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), Cagayan de Oro City.

YOUTH HOURS CDO Speakers

  • Dixon Q. Yasay, PhD. Director, Governance & Leadership Institute, Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan
  • Archbishop Antonio J. Ledesma, S.J., D.D., Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro

Youth Hours is a youth formation workshop that aims to gather Filipino Student Leaders and School Administrators as a venue to introduce and market the Ten Outstanding Student of the Philippines (TOSP) Search through plenary and parallel workshops on the 3 Pillars of TOSP Program: Academic and Professional Excellence, Leadership and Social Responsibility.

This year’s Youth Hours has the theme (EDGE)n, with EDGE standing for EveryDay Great Examples. It focuses on fostering responsible citizenship among the youth, with three main messages:

  • That nation-building is not a single big event, or even a series of “projects”. It is a way of life, and is manifested in every small decision we make and action we take. We should all raise our everyday great examples to the power of nation building.
  • For us to be able to effect real and sustainable change, we need to have a critical mass of people who live and breathe love for country. If youth leaders can inspire fellow youth and enable them to manifest love for country in their everyday lives (in effect leveling up their everyday great examples to intentionally move more people to do the same), then everyday great examples will grow exponentially and change can be attained.
  • A strong population collectively living out every day great examples can shape government, business, church, and other sectors in society.

The official hashtags of the event are the following: #tosp #youthhours #iamtheedge. For the latest in Youth Hours, you may like and follow The Outstanding Students of the Philippines – Alumni Community on Facebook here or their official website – http://tospac.org/.
