Cagayan de Oro, be ready as the peace freaks are here. On its 2nd year – Summer Peace Festival, SPF 13, which aims to promote peace, help the natural environment to recover, promote local produced products, bring back the consciousness to traditional music, the games we’ve loved, the arts and most especially culture. It is also a venue to exchange creative idea and form new friendship. It’s an experience that would redefine Mindanao.

Summer Peace Festival was launched last May 5, 2012. The event was attended by more than 400 people including performances from local and internationally acclaimed artist and bands. To name a few – CDO’s The Superflirts, Grupong Laya, Gasulina, Tabularaza. The attendance of artists and bands from Barcelona, Manila, Cebu and Bukidnon spiced up the event.

On their second year, Summer Peace Festival 2013 in CDO brings back LUNA MUSIKA LAWAIG FESTIVAL with a line-up that you shouldn’t miss.

LUNA MUSIKA LAWAIG FESTIVAL is fun-packed weekend that offers the best in art through artworks that will fill the venue, musicians that will perform on the event, tours, crowd sourcing of ideas, workshops that is meant to get your creative juices flowing, and most healthy food.

The event will be graced by bands like Siri Svegler – Sweden, Isa Tabasuares & Thomas Walter – Berlin, Sinyma – (Nyko Maca’s new band) – Manila, Purple Kush – Cebu, The Mush Project – Barcelona, Ruska – Cagayan de Oro, Crowns Down – Butuan City, The Mo – Malaybalay and many more.

Artists like Talaandig Tribe Installation, Agnes, Arellano – Manila Installation, Rene Kiefer – Builder, Kit Gresos – Butuan, Rhyan Casino – CDO, Fadi Ismail – CDO, Mike Bacol – CDO, will also make the event really special with showcasing their artistic prowess.

SPF 13 will also showcase different workshops for kids and teens like One Happy Story’s Outdoor Photography, Maria Dolonius’ Door Baking, Guru Gym’s Knot Tying and the Viajero Outdoor Team’s Outdoor Survival Skills. It is more interesting to see an event featuring the Filipino games.

Ki Bathala Gardens

The event will be held at Ki Bathala Gardens in Sitio Balaon, San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon. The festival area is an agricultural land that produces 100% organic products. It is a natural permaculture farm which promotes overall health and a place of harmonious co-existence between nature and man.

Night session: The Natural Mystic

On this FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE night we take celebrate peace with the earths mystical energy. This night is dedicated to contemporary and traditional world music, including a jam featuring some of the most talented Filipino musicians leading an makeshift ensemble of local artisans in a set that will only happen once in a lifetime. A fitting story for the opening of the Summer peace festival. The jam will be unscripted, unrehearsed and natural. Who knows what could happen.

April 27
Night session: The Musikalawaig Jam

Eight (8) bands chosen for their excellence in music take its spectators on a journey through different genre’s they have mastered. Featuring the best of the local scene and guests bands from different parts of the world, this carefully curated list will definitely fill the jungle air with energy and emotion. Peace is the message and music is the communicator; the formula for an epic night that will leave guests fulfilled and ready for more.

April 26-28 will also feature on-site and off-site day activites like fishing, yoga sessions, POI workshops, swimming in the river, traditional tattoo, drumming and energy healing with consultation. Explore the nature with spelunking and pinoy rafting.
There will be scheduled pick up times for jeepneys that will depart from Cagayan de Oro to the venue. You may prepare Php 75 for the one way jeepney fee. For those who will be bringing their own car, you can take the Masterson Avenue for 40 minutes until you see the Luna Musikalawaig Marker. The event will be opened to all ages as there will be activities meant for each age bracket. The event will be preparing food and drinks at reasonable prices. Security is the number one priority for the event as security guards will be strategically assigned per location with the help from the PNP and Philippine Army.

Overall, the event is focused to promote Mindanao’s art, culture, eco-tourism, to support the local community, local artists, musicians, promote good food, good music, and to spread peace.
