In their own way to help the survivors of Sendong or Typhoon Washi, a group of young congressmen came to Cagayan de Oro to donate 7 houses through Gawad Kalinga at Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City – May 5, 2012. Present during the MOA signing at Mallberry Suites and the build at GK Canitoan were the following representatives:

Rep. Karlo Alexei B. Nograles of Davao
Rep. Mark Aeron H. Sambar of PBA Party List
Rep. Joseph Victor G. Estrada of San Juan
Rep. Dakila Carlo E. Cua of Quirino
Rep. Jun Omar C. Ebdane of Zambales
Rep. Gabriel “Luigi” Quisumbing of Cebu
During the press conference they also answered a few questions coming from the local and national media. They also stressed out that this idea were out of their personal and group effort. Rep. Estrada also inspired the group to help rebuild CDO and is hoping others to do the same. Each houses costs Php 110,000 in partnership with Gawad Kalinga – Misamis Oriental headed by Dr. Alfonso del Fierro. The group also wanted to instil the essence of Bayanihan and heroism for what had happen. Other than that they’ve also contributed privately during the Sendong aftermath.
