Cagayan de Oro, Philippines – Islands Souvenirs, a homegrown retail brand of Cebu, says I ♥ Cagayan de Oro!

Islands Souvenirs, from the Islands Group of Companies, revolutionized souvenir shopping by transforming cottage-industry type products with a fresher look. It carved out a new niche by providing quality souvenir items that are creatively designed and packaged in a vibrant shopping environment.

In February 2010, Islands Souvenirs first launched its line of shirts dubbed as, “I Heart”. “It was originally planned as a Valentine’s Day activation which focused on a less typical love – love of place” – according to Jay Aldeguer, President & CEO of The Islands Group. It was a huge and remarkable success thanks to the participation of various true-blue Cebuanos. Eventually, we saw potential in replicating the line to other key cities such as Davao, Bohol, Manila, Boracay, Vigan, Camsur, Baguio and Palawan.

This year, Islands Souvenirs is expanding its wings to the City of Golden FriendshipCagayan de Oro. “The launch of I ♥ Cagayan de Oro is something we are really excited about, in fact we plan to add more stores in the city” says Jay Aldeguer. There are a lot of things we love in CDO. May it be sports or eco-tourism activity – it’s the country’s premiere white water destination. It’s also home to Filipinos with extra friendly smiles. Museums, churches or even local weavers are also an interesting sight for those who wanted to feel old traditions. There are a lot of fun ways to showcasing these points of interests in CDO and we feel that the I Heart campaign will further reinforce the advocacy and promote Cagayan de Oro as a great tourist destination.

The campaign is initially launched at the Limketkai Center branch, featuring some of the very proud Kagay-anons with the likes of Irene Aserios, Joji Ferrer, Nicole Abas-Datayan, Chingkee Te, Gil Macaibay III, Maxine Monasterio, Desiree Lim, Jeminah Ferrer, Kyle Jennerman, Nadine Legaspi, Awi Chaves, Francis Velasquez, RB Banaag, among the first batch of proud Kagay-anons. Watch out for the unveiling of these personalities in Centrio Mall this July.
