Iponan’s Delicious Specialties: Humba and Salucara

Last July 19, 2013, Iponan celebrated their 5th Humba and Salucara Festival. The festival was held at the Iponan Open Grounds and Covered Court. Iponan takes pride of their delicious specialties Humba and Salucara (animal fat-flavored pancake) as they traced their roots making the two specialties an Iponan must-have food. The festival was lead by their Barangay Chairman Anthony O. Brellita with activities lined up for the whole day such as Humba cooking, Salucara Cooking, Vegetable Cooking, Table Setting and Flower Arrangement, Watermelon Carving, Tropical Foliage and School Based contests such as Jingle Singing, Poster Making, and Nutri Quiz.

OVER ALL WINNERS

1st – Iponan National High School – 25 pts
2nd – Zone 5 Camansi – 14 pts.
3rd – Zone 4 – 13 pts.

The Iponan Barangay Council is looking forward to having a bigger festival next year. To date, Barangay Iponan holds the most number of Barangay Festivals in Cagayan de Oro City. Kagayanons, we must also look forward to their Suman Festival every December. The celebration was successful through the synergy of the Barangay Council and the people of Iponan.
